Flu-like Illness (and Yesterday Today)

I've been attacked by a "flu-like illness." It made its initial offensive on Saturday, got worse Sunday, got even worse Monday, and seems to be retreating today. I haven't left the house (except to go to the walk-in clinic) since Saturday afternoon.

Funny story. . . I actually went to the walk-in in my pajamas. I threw a fleece over the ratty t-shirt. I had to wear a mask while I was there - which was incredibly hot. So, I was forced to take off the fleece revealing the ratty t-shirt I was trying to hide. In my defense, I had taken a shower and was wearing clean pajamas. My hair was CRAZY, though, as I hadn't dried or done anything to it. No one sat anywhere near me in the waiting room! It was - in retrospect - totally mortifying. And, despite the awful fashion choices the doctor still couldn't do anything to make me feel better or diagnose me with anything besides a "flu-like illness."

I spent most of the past few days coughing, sneezing, blowing my nose, taking my temperature, or sanitizing my hands. I did sneak a few minutes to scrap, though.

Here are my creations for Week 3 of Yesterday Today.

Paper: My Yesterday Today
I'm annoyed that the ribbon looks pink. It isn't pink. It's red.

Digital: Our Yesterday Today
I struggled with this - lots of things to change in the template to really make it work for my stories.

Wish List

I realize that this post is going to make me seem like Little Miss Greedy, but I made a big ol' list of things I really want - and have no intention of buying for myself.

This would be fun to have. . .

And, I've been looking at these for awhile.

Because socks and underwear are a typical Christmas gift. . .

Personalized embosser
- I've always wanted one of these to mark my books with.

I've loved this for a long time.

This would be a nice addition to our house.

I bought one of these knifes (a chef knife) and now need a paring knife.

Magazine Subscriptions
Cooks Illustrated

Books
Splendid Table: How to Eat Supper
A Year of Mornings

This is a wish list, right? Here's the real "wish" part of it.

I'd love a new bag for work. I'd probably need a brown one and a black one.

A new lens. I think a 24-105 would probably do the trick.

Oh, and I've been looking at this watch for awhile.

And, I do think this is pretty cool.

I already have plenty of quilts but am sure I'd sleep better if I had this.

Yesterday & Today Week 2

I'm taking Ali Edwards's Big Picture class, Yesterday & Today. And, for the first time ever, I'm actually staying "caught up."

Here's my work for Week 2.

And, I decided to try to learn to do digital. Here's my digital lay-out.

I'm sort of thinking I might do a paper album that tells my story and a digital album that tells my story with Brad.

Twice the Fun

My good friend, Mirielle, just posted her school picture. She looked so cool just chillin' next to that beautiful lake that I decided I should post my school picture, too.

I wasn't anywhere near a lake, and there were no beautiful fall colors in sight. But, I did get to have my school picture taken not once but twice - since I work at two schools.

Double the fun.

Don't you just love the head tilt on the second one?

And, let me know if you'd like a wallet. I'd be happy to send you one. I'd even sign the back.

26.2 through the Twin Cities

Last Sunday Brad finished his second marathon.

I know I make fun of running and runners, but I really do have to say that I am so proud of Brad. Doing this running thing has meant lifestyle changes that will make him a healthier person for years to come. Doing this running thing has meant setting time aside for himself dedicated to doing a specific thing. He's had to be consistent and committed - things I struggle with.

His goal was to run in less than 4 hours (his previous time was 4:11). He didn't make his goal, and he knew from about the half-way point that he wasn't going to. But, he kept running. I don't understand that, but I respect that.

Go Brad!

Last Saturday

Last Saturday it was fall at the Farmers' Market.

AJ loves fall just as much as I do. Can't you tell?

Copy Cat

So. . . I made some stuff. It happened almost two weeks ago at a crop with Stephanie and Trish.

I totally love what I made, but I can't take credit for any of it. It was all completely and totally copied. And, when I say copied I really mean copied. I can take absolutely no credit.

This one came from Christine Drumheller.

From the fabulous Ali Edwards (with the Cocoa Daisy September kit).

Another Ali Edwards this time with Studio Calico's Cotillion.

And one more from Ali (again with Studio Calico's Cotillion).

There's so much more to tell you. . .
a great trip the Farmers' Market for fall fabulousness
