Currents

Photo at 7:45 P.M. (after dinner)

Time: 5:08 P.M.

Location: Curled up on couch

Amazingly enough, I still have on my work clothes.

Eating: Sweet potato tator tots for dinner

Drinking: Starbucks Pike Place K-Cups

Do not care that there are ridiculously expensive. I love every drop.

Watching: 5 P.M. News
Am somewhat transfixed by local story about 3 teens who were killed in a car accident.

Reading: just started Drums, Girls, & Dangerous Pie
It's the read-aloud for my kiddos right now. They seem to really be liking it.

Loving: hilarious emails from friends
Today's chain featured a conversation about whether "meatheads" or "skinny arty hipster types" are hotter - photos included

Needing: to do to my taxes to figure out whether a spring break plane ticket is in the future

Thinking:  about sending Valentines

Wondering: if there will be any snow days this winter

Enjoying: packing a lunch instead of visiting the lunch line
No chicken patties or pizza for me this week!

Lazy Morning

Today is the first time in what seems like a very long time that I have no serious responsibilities. I didn't need to set my alarm. I woke up all by myself at about 7:30 A.M., put on my cozy slippers, and wandered downstairs.

The sun shines in my craft room windows beautifully early in the morning, so I finished up my Project Life from last week and a SMASH book I've been working on for awhile.

Then, I wandered to the kitchen, ate a grapefruit, drank some coffee, and read a little.

It is crazy how different I feel about my day when I'm not rushed.

Currents

i know. it makes no sense to use a picture from 1982 on a post entitled "currents." it's the best i could do though, as my face is looking fat and my hair flat more often than not, lately.

listening: to the Brewers and Phillies game (tied at 2 in the 8th)

eating: cinnamon toaster waffles (the really unhealthy ones!) for breakfast this week

drinking: lots of water lately - through a straw from a reusable water bottle

wearing: a cardigan and a scarf almost every single day. it's my uniform.

feeling: torn about vacation. . . part me wants to plan every minute and part of me wants to just life in the moment. i'm afraid i'm going to forget about something i really want to do and not leave time for it, though. ahhhhh! the tension!

weather:  tomorrow's forecast? 6 - 10" of snow. on april 18. RIDICULOUS.

wanting: the courage to send out resumes and start looking for a different job. last summer's rejection was not good for this girl's confidence.

needing: to do a load of laundry - dark delicates that require lots of line drying. am dragging my feet about this and finding reasons to wear jeans to work instead of khakis.

thinking: how lucky i am to be an (honorary) auntie. i don't mean to brag, but it feels pretty darn cool to have kids in my life that think i am cooler than Elmo or a Disney Princess or Handy Manny.

enjoying: reading before bed lately. am almost finished with Cutting for Stone and read most of Okay for Now while lounging around on Sunday.

wondering: if i'm still as funny as i used to be. i feel like my funniness may have gotten lost somewhere amidst worrying about work and family and bills and adult-ness. have i become too bitter and adult and sarcastic and negative?

p.s. i'm not sure how this fits with currents, but i should share this random moment from today with you. for about three hours i was completely convinced that the power cord on mac was kaput. i was so busy imagining that this would require me to buy a new laptop that i never even really stopped to investigate the potential problem. close investigation and some poking around with a scissors revealed that the only problem was a staple and other random piece of metal stuck to the magnetic part of my power cord. problem solved. no new computer necessary.

My Night

Here's what I have done since 4 p.m.:
  • Made dinner (sweet potato soup and ham, gruyere, and apple paninis)
  • Made 12 cloth dinner napkins for the Big Bowl Big Mouth Soup Challenge
  • Printed multiple copies of my soup recipe on to a template from Etsy and printed them two-sided (this took many attempts to perfect)
  • Made a placement for the Big Bowl Big Mouth Soup Challenge
  • Addressed Valentines
  • Organized dishes for Big Bowl Big Mouth Soup Challenge
  • Ran to the mall to pick up additional dishes and a ladle for the Big Mouth Big Bowl Soup Challenge
  • Found Easter candy (namely, chocolate Cadbury eggs) at Target!!!
  • Picked up some new lip gloss
  • Stopped at the FedEx store to have color copies made of the place mat for the Big Mouth Big Bowl Soup Challenge
  • Showed Brad how to trim extra threads off of previously mentioned cloth napkins
  • Opened packages that came today (Fiskars cloud punches from Overstock and some books from Barnes and Noble)
  • Made a list of things I need to pack tomorrow night in preparation for the Big Mouth Big Bowl Soup Challenge
Are you noticing a theme here? I'm super excited for Saturday's festivities. In fact, I think that this might be the bestest party Angie and I have thrown. We have really worked out the details of this carefully. It is going to be a top-notch affair. And, I am pretty confident that victory will be mine. Bwahahaha.

2 pair day.

I left the house at 6:45 this morning with two pairs of shoes.

I wore one for my morning thing.

I wore one for my afternoon thing.

I put the first pair back on for my evening thing.

Now, I'm barefoot and in pajamas.

It's been a long day.
