Recovering.

10 years ago "recovering" from a weekend meant drinking lots of water, swallowing loads of aspirin, and airing the smoke smell out of whatever outfits may have been worn to the bar.

Now, "recovering" from a weekend means laughing about funny moments, wishing for a chance to take a long nap, and being so thankful for friends and family.

This weekend I. . .

. . . scrapbooked with Stephanie. I worked on my Project Life. That's another story.

. . . got my haircut.

. . . took Katelyn to dinner for her fourth birthday. She had sausage pizza and vanilla ice cream with sprinkles. The kid talked all night. Seriously. She hardly came up for a breath. Without Natalie to compete with Katelyn found her voice.

. . . hosted a smashing (and impromptu) mother's day brunch including: a Bloody Mary bar (featuring drinks in Mason jars), mimosas, sippy cups of milk, three kinds of pancakes (labeled with cute little flags), fruit, sausage, brown-sugar bacon, and cinnamon rolls.

. . . completely melted when my favorite little man brought me some Mother's Day flowers (see roses on Bloody Mary bar).

. . . looked at patio furniture at Walmart. Have you ever seen the little models of patio umbrellas that are with the furniture sets? I completely didn't realize they were models and thought they were, in fact, small umbrellas that could be used to shade perishable food, like dip.

. . . got a pedicure with my mom and my newest mom-friend. The salon owners forced me to pay for my mom's manicure and pedicure. It was an awkward conversation in which, "You pay for Mom?" become "You pay for Mom." The punctuation makes all the difference.

. . . took a late-afternoon nap.

. . . didn't take nearly enough pictures.

Back to Reality

It's a Monday-type Tuesday. The bliss that is a three-day weekend is now a was. I did manage to make it to work on time this morning (and only changed my outfit once before leaving), but I didn't grocery shop, pay bills, or do anything responsible to get my week started right.

So, I will continue my slacking streak and blog a few more pictures from the weekend in lieu of doing something productive.

Sunday was the ultimate Memorial Day celebration at Angie's - pool time for the kiddos and plenty of food and beverages for the adults.

It's Not Over Yet

An extra day to a weekend shouldn't be such a big deal. It is, after all, just one more day. One more day really is a big deal, though. And, Brad had the weekend off. And, the weather was perfect!
Saturday morning I had a meeting in Madison (Boo!). We made this into an opportunity to meet up with the Spahn's (Yay!) at Bratfest (Double Yay!).

The food was totally WI - brats, cheese curds, onion rings. We skipped the beer knowing there was some coming later. Even Miri got in on the action - having a little kraut (Yuck!)

The day wouldn't be complete without a stop for custard. Miri wasn't so sure at first; I think the custard was a little cold for her. She eventually just started shoving her face in the bowl, though.

The day ended adults-only style at a Brewers' game. We had a ticket package that included passes to the NYCE Club where we enjoyed a "fine dining buffet" and club level tickets. Club level tickets means carpeting and air conditioning and waitstaff who deliver beer to your seats. It is my kind of Brewers experience.

I have a Sausage Race confession. From left to right the Racing Sausages are: Chorizo, Polish Sausage, Hot Dog, Italian, and Bratwurst. I thought Hot Dog took out Bratwurst at the very last second. Actually, Polish Sausage took out Bratwurst at the very last second. I probably shouldn't even be able to call myself a true Racing Sausage fan because of that mistake.

And, all of this is only Saturday's fun. You'll have to wait to hear about Sunday's fun.
